Stella Maris is the largest ship-visiting network in the world.
They improve the lives of seafarers and fishers through their network of local chaplains and seafarer centres, expert information, advocacy, and spiritual support.
Stella Maris helps thousands of seafarers every year who are struggling with loneliness, exhaustion, bullying and exploitation.

Established in 1843 as the Seamen’s Mission of the Methodist Church, the Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest (QVSR) has a long history of serving those in need, both on land and at sea.
The Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest (QVSR) provides accommodation and welfare support to seafarers, veterans, and other individuals in need. They offer long-term and transitional housing, as well as various services like sports facilities, leisure activities, and assistance with benefits and medical issues. QVSR also operates seafarers’ centers at ports like Tilbury, London Cruise Terminal, and Felixstowe, providing support to active seafarers visiting the UK.

Nautilus International is a global trade union and professional organisation for maritime professionals, offering services, welfare support and advocacy. The Nautilus Welfare Fund is a UK-registered charity administered by Nautilus International, offering a range of specialist services to support retired seafarers and their dependants. All retired seafarers (who can demonstrate a significant career in the maritime industry), and their dependants (even where the retired seafarer is deceased), are eligible to make an application for support from the charity and access its many services

The Merchant Navy Association (MNA) is a UK-based maritime charity that represents all seafarers, both serving and retired, and their families. It was founded to raise awareness of the commitment and sacrifices of merchant seafarers, particularly those who served during wartime. The MNA provides welfare support, advocates for the seafaring community, and promotes the maritime industry and heritage.

Safer Waves – (Registered Charity No. 1192195)

Safer Waves was set up in 2019 to provide support to merchant seafarers who have experienced sexual violence, sexual harassment or gender discrimination on board.
Safer Waves provides a an anonymous email support service, run by volunteers who are trained in responding to disclosures of sexual violence, and who understand the specific challenges experienced when these events happen onboard a vessel.

The Company of Watermen and Lightermen of the River Thames was founded in 1514, when the earliest Act of Parliament for regulating watermen, wherrymen and bargemen received Royal Assent from King Henry VIII.
