Job Description
Job Purpose
The EP is responsible for planning what is required, time and material wise, when a ship comes into the Drydock, He/she then costs the time and materials needed and passes this onto the CEO for review and approval. The EP also advises the Engineering team on the specifics of the work that is required for each ship on site.
Key Role Requirements
The ability to accurately assess the requirements, and prepare a project plan, for each project
The EP must have good Engineering knowledge and experience and be able to accurately assess the time required for each project.
The current EP acts as a spare Docking Master when the GM Is not available and this is advantageous to the business
Budgetary Responsibility
No direct budgetary responsibility in the role.
However, the EP has a key contributory role in projecting the costs of each project to enable the tender for the work coming into site
Outputs
The EP prepares detailed project plans for the work required for each ship coming onto the site
Interactions
The EP needs to closely interact with the CEO, the GM and the Engineers/Labourers on site before and during each project.
The EP also needs to work closely with the site’s Business Assistant and he/she works closely with local contractors to get quotes in for the work that the site team cannot do and builds these into the project plans.
Knowledge Skills and Experiences
Knowledge
Ship refit knowledge and experience to be able to anticipate the complexity of the work required on a project by project basis.
Skills
Hands on experience of Dry Dock Operations including work planning and having some engineering knowledge
Experience
Previous project planning and management experience would be advantageous (especially within the marine environment)
Qualifications
A formal Engineering qualification would be advantageous (including a time served apprenticeship)
A Project Management qualification would also be advantageous
