Job Description

Based at HMNB Portsmouth

Our client operates a modern, moveable jack-up barge and semi-submersible dry dock, with a maximum payload capacity of 3000 tonnes

We are looking for an experienced Barge Master to look after our clients asset whilst stationary with the non-tidal basin at HMNB Portsmouth where she will undertake lifting / jacking / dry docking operations.

Essential

  • Experience working with Ravestein barges / jack-ups –

This role can be part time or full time

About the Jack – Up/Asset

Is available to charter in UK and Northern European waters; she is the perfect tool for major marine civils works, the transportation of heavy structures, such as concrete tunnels, offshore / inshore foundations, ships, barges and pontoons – from the quayside, into the water, and vice versa.

Developed with defence requirements in mind the platform is extremely versatile; built to the highest standards and with a superior specification, she is ideally engineered for numerous commercial applications.

The Typhoon 3000 is built out of a monohull pontoon, 4 jacking systems, and 4 spudlegs. The platform is available either bareboat or as a ‘managed’ solution. OverWater routinely work with Heavy Lift specialists, and full ‘turn key’ solutions, to include marine engineering works, (priced accordingly and undertaken on the platforms deck), and can be tailored to suit the needs of Charterers.

A ‘conventional’ jack-up barge that can submerge without the use of pumps and /or ballast systems. The valves in the top and bottom of the pontoon are opened, and the submerging can begin. This process is very cost effective as it saves both time and operational maintenance.

It is also much safer as work/s are undertaken above the waterline on deck; the platform is always 100% horizontal on its spudlegs.

The 4 jacking systems are manufactured with a heavy duty pinning system. Operational management of this fast and heavy-duty system, lifting and lowering / locking and un-locking, is facilitated completely hydraulically from a control panel located within the bespoke control cabin – this helps assure quality and capability.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK or hold UK permanent residency.
