Our client is a pioneering provider of intelligent technology to control uncrewed marine missions worldwide.

They design, manufacture and supply robust and reliable autopilot, remote control, navigation, communication and power management systems to help open up the marine world to new levels of exploration, assessment, security, charting and research. 

Role Summary

Working with a dynamic team that takes delivering vessel control system in a fast-moving marine autonomous market. Ideal candidates will be multi-disciplined with a solid background in electronic system design also an understanding of the overall electronics integration of marine sensors, systems, ideally in a commercial environment.

Working in a small team of creative and focused engineers to deliver vessel control solutions to the end customers, ensuring high quality and robust designs for a tough autonomous marine marketplace.

Details of the role

Talented engineer required for small dynamic company working on exciting autonomous marine electronics projects including control, communication and management of autonomous surface and underwater crafts.

The successful candidate will be practical hand on systems design and top-level assembly engineer of marine systems including autopilots, radar, AIS, marine communication systems. Working in a close-knit team and will have a desire to be involved in design from concept to client delivery including commissioning systems on clients’ vessels.

The candidate will need an understanding of electronic marine systems from both a hardware and application software perspective. Additionally, the candidate should be creative and technically proficient to understand data produced by a range of environmental sensors (such as Radar, AIS, Cameras). An ability to translate customer requirement into schematic diagrams and manage the design into a deliverable system consisting of existing sub systems and occasionally new hardware in conjunction with an electronic engineer and PCB designer.

Key skills and experience

  • Electronics Degree qualified.
  • More than 5 years’ experience in design, assembly, and test.
  • Experienced electronics system design, ideally in the marine industry. The ability to create vessel schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience in configuring communication systems, such as remote-control handsets.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word expertise.
