Reports to: Workshop Manager
Location: More workshop based. Occasional requirement for commissioning on site, mostly based at Taunton
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Key Results areas)
- Installation and/or modify/upgrade of electrical/electronic systems and peripherals either as stand-alone systems and/or to compliment any pneumatic/hydraulic systems designed built or modified by the company as the company demands.
- Assist with software design and programming as required as part of company procedures on a variety of different hardware systems.
- Carry out site visits to ascertain the scope of the work and assist with quotations for the customer.
- Produce accurate records of works completed and ensure company records of builds and/or modifications are amended accurately and kept up to date.
- Ensure that work is carried out inline with the companies’ procedures and quality standards and complies with all current European/National electrical standards and codes of practice.
- Ensure that all units/builds are fully tested and built in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the customers satisfaction.
- Work within the guidelines of the company quality management system
- Take an active role in the execution of company business ensuring that company standards and integrity of work are maintained and ensure subordinates (if any) aligned follow suit.
- Carry out engineering work at Rotec depots, on-site, and at customer’s premises, as requested by the Operations/Production Manager.
- Ensure that all work is completed to specification, in accordance with the Company’s procedures and quality standards.
- Ensure that workmanship is of the highest standard at all times and satisfies the Company’s and customer’s requirements.
- Ensure that all units assembled are properly tested in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and approved by a nominated person prior to dispatch.
- Ensure that all installations are completed in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
- Make every effort to ensure work is completed on-time and within budget, identifying additional work not included in the original estimate and reporting information to Engineering Manager.
- Ensure that a full and accurate record of time spent on each activity is recorded on timesheets each week.
- Work with the Engineering Manager to identify personal training needs and undertake appropriate training programs within work schedules.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met & that the relevant Risk Assessments are completed and actioned.
- Ensure the workshop and all working areas are always kept clean & tidy.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Liaise directly with customers as required to ensure their requirements are interpreted accurately without delays.
- Assist with and when called upon take responsibility for other projects which engineering personnel may be asked to undertake.
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the workshops to the company’s standard.
- Complete stock requisitions for ALL components removed from the warehouse for use on system builds.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met & that the relevant Risk Assessments are completed.
- Take advantage of any further product or personal development opportunities offered by the company.
- Act in a professional and responsible manner at all times when representing the Company.
- Ensure timely completion of stock requisitions for all components removed from stock.
- To be available when required for off-site commissioning, service & repair work.
- To be prepared to work out of normal working hours when required.
- Ensure the safe-keeping, regular maintenance, and professional appearance of Company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
(Knowledge, skills, experience)
- A completed recognized industrial electrical systems apprenticeship preferably to HNC/HND standard together with relevant field experience.
- A high level of knowledge of the dangers of working with low to medium voltage electrical supply systems, both AC and DC.
- A good working knowledge of proprietary PLC control systems, their maintenance and programming.
- A good understanding of hydraulic components and systems
- A good knowledge of general engineering practices and procedures.
- A basic understanding of electronics would be of benefit but not essential.
- Understanding of Company Health and Safety policy
- Travel for overnight stay (UK and Abroad)
- Extensive knowledge of AC-DC electrical motors, their control methods and protection.
- A good understanding of both digital and analogue control of devices.
- A good understanding of proprietary field bus systems and their application.
We are seeking candidates with Panel building/Industrial electrics/Automotive/3 phase experience

Salary & Benefits
- Salary of up to £38K PA (Electrical) based on a flat 41.5-hour week.
- 27 days paid holidays PA + bank hols.

- Overtime/subsistence for out of normal working hours and staying away from home.
